Functions – Licensing Board
At present, the Chief Electrical Inspector is also the Chairman of the Nagaland Electrical Licensing Board constituted by the Govt. under erstwhile rule 45 of the Indian Electricity Rules, 1956 – now under regulation 31 of the Central Electricity Authority (Measures relating to Safety and Electric Supply) Regulations, 2023.
The functions and administration of the Board are governed by the Nagaland Electrical Licensing Board Regulations, 2005:
- To grant licenses to Electrical Contractors,
- To conduct examinations for issue of Certificates to Electrical Supervisors and Permits to Electrical Workmen, and
- To hear and decide the cases of violations or malpractice by Electrical Contractors, Supervisors and Workmen.
